1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Soton Cars Ltd taxi and private hire services and the use of the Soton Cars Ltd website. By booking with us or browsing this website, you agree to these terms. Soton Cars Ltd is a licensed private hire operator regulated by Southampton City Council.
2. Booking & Confirmation
All bookings must be made in advance via phone, WhatsApp, email, or our online booking system. A booking is only confirmed upon receipt of confirmation from Soton Cars Ltd. We reserve the right to refuse bookings at our sole discretion.
3. Fares & Payment
All fares are fixed and agreed at the time of booking. Payment may be made by cash or card. Waiting time charges apply at standard rates. Additional charges may apply for out-of-hours bookings, multi-stop journeys, and excessive luggage. Toll, congestion charge, and parking fees are payable by the passenger unless stated otherwise.
4. Cancellations
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the journey are free of charge. Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a charge of up to 50% of the agreed fare. No-shows (passenger not at pickup after driver waiting) will be charged in full. Airport pickups must be cancelled at least 2 hours before the scheduled pickup time.
5. Waiting Time
For airport pickups, Soton Cars allows 60 minutes of free waiting time after the scheduled flight arrival. This is the same 60 minutes quoted across our airport pages and price lists. For other pickups, 15 minutes free waiting is included. Waiting time beyond these periods is charged at our standard waiting rate.
6. Passenger Conduct
Passengers must not consume alcohol, smoke, or use drugs in our vehicles. Passengers must wear seatbelts at all times. Soton Cars Ltd reserves the right to refuse or terminate a journey if a passenger behaves in an abusive, threatening, or disruptive manner. Any damage caused to a vehicle by a passenger will be charged in full.
7. Child Seats
Child seats are available on request and must be requested at the time of booking. While we will always endeavour to provide child seats, we cannot guarantee availability for last-minute bookings. By law, children under the age of 12 or shorter than 135 cm must use an appropriate child restraint.
8. Website Content & Third-Party Materials
All text, images, visual designs, graphics, code, and content displayed on this website are provided for informational purposes only. Certain images, media, branding elements, or third-party content used on this website may be sourced from external creators, third-party libraries, stock asset providers, or provided directly by Soton Cars Ltd. Soton Cars Ltd and its web development agency, Reach Global Digital, make no express or implied warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, or non-infringement of any third-party content, stock graphics, icons, or design elements contained on this site.
9. Intellectual Property Disclaimers & Indemnification
Third-Party Copyright & Content Verification: While reasonable efforts are made to ensure all materials used on this site comply with copyright laws, neither Soton Cars Ltd nor Reach Global Digital shall be liable for inadvertent intellectual property or copyright infringement arising from third-party media, icons, stock photographs, code snippets, or user-submitted content. Shift of Responsibility: It is acknowledged that Reach Global Digital acts solely as the technical development and design agency under the direction of Soton Cars Ltd. Soton Cars Ltd retains ultimate legal responsibility for verifying that all final published content, images, and copy on this site comply with copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws. 10. "Use at Your Own Risk" & Limitation of Liability
"As-Is" Service: Access to and use of this website, online booking portal, and services are provided strictly on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither Soton Cars Ltd nor Reach Global Digital warrants that the website will operate uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. General Service Liability: Soton Cars Ltd accepts no liability for: • Loss or damage to passenger property left in vehicles; • Delays caused by traffic, weather, roadworks, or events beyond our reasonable control; • Missed flights, trains, or connections where the delay was not caused by our direct negligence; • Third-party claims arising from passenger actions or third-party content displayed on the website. Cap on Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total collective liability of Soton Cars Ltd and Reach Global Digital for any claim arising from booking services or website usage shall not exceed the total fare paid for the specific journey booked, or £100 (whichever is lower).
11. Lost Property
Any property left in our vehicles will be held for 30 days. Collection or delivery of lost property can be arranged by contacting us directly. We accept no liability for lost or damaged property.
12. Data Protection & Privacy
Soton Cars Ltd processes personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. We collect booking data solely to fulfil our services and will not share your data with third parties without consent, except where required by law. You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of your data by contacting bookings@sotoncars.co.uk.
13. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to improve user experience and analyze website traffic via tools such as Google Analytics. By continuing to use our website, you consent to our use of cookies. You may opt out of non-essential cookies at any time via our cookie consent settings.
14. Changes to These Terms
Soton Cars Ltd (in consultation with Reach Global Digital regarding web terms) reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. The current version will always be available on our website. Continued use of our services or website constitutes full acceptance of the updated terms.
15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes or legal actions arising out of these terms, website usage, or third-party intellectual property matters shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
